I don't know why I didn't know this sooner

I don't think I really entered the LDS art competition thinking about winning. I would love to win, but I did it because it was something I felt I needed to do. I didn't look up what the awards would be or when the judging would even take place. I haven't known any of these things all of this time. So many people have asked me about it, I finally decided maybe I should find these things out. So today I looked up some more information about the LDS art competition. Here is what I found:
Judging and Awards
Judging Criteria Entries will be judged on the successful expression of Latter-day Saint subject matter; on the excellence of aesthetic and technical accomplishment; and on the creativity, originality, and quality of the art. Jurors will also ensure that many areas of the world are represented in the exhibit.
Judging Process Two rounds of judging by a multimember jury will take place. The first round will be based on photographic images of the artwork submitted with the entry form. First-round winners will be notified and instructed to send the original artwork to the museum for the second round of judging. Winning second-round entries will be shown in the exhibit.
Notification of Winners The museum will mail the results of the first round of judging on or before December 31, 2008. Winners will receive instructions for delivering original art to the museum. Artists should not send original art to the museum unless notified to do so. Works accepted for the exhibition must remain at the museum until after the exhibit officially closes to the public.
AwardsUp to 20 Merit Awards of $500 each will be given to recognize outstanding pieces. A number of Purchase Awards will be given to acquire art for the museum collection. Three Visitors' Choice Awards of $500 each will be given shortly before the exibit closes.

I just barely looked this stuff up today. I'm not sure why I didn't wonder about it earlier. Huh.
